Week two of vegan eating
I’ve now been following a vegan diet for two weeks, and I’m still for the most part enjoying it. I have continued to be adventurous in my diet, although at not quite the same rate as the first week. I have tried more new recipes from VwaV, as well as finding recipes in other places (such as this recipe for Red Lentil Soup).
I had two non-vegan slip-ups this week (that I am aware of - it easily could have been more). The first was kind of silly - my husband was drinking Bailey’s Irish Cream out of a shot glass. I accidentally spilled a bit of it on my hand, and instinctively just licked it off. Oh well!
The second was in a restaurant, where I carefully perused the menu and ordered a nice safe mixed salad and a bowl of tomato soup. I was proud that I had managed to put together a vegan meal that didn’t contain french fries, until thirty seconds later when I realized that the menu had said tomato CREAM soup - how could I have missed that? Guess I’m not as good at spotting vegan food as I thought. Anyway, the soup came with the dollop of cream on top, and I was able to spoon most of it out before I started eating.
Although I’ve been really enjoying the variety of tasty foods that I have been consuming at home, I am growing more and more frustrated with the choices when dining out. We’ll see what the next week brings.

Eating out would definitely be the hard part. I haven’t eaten out since I became a vegan, except for one time when I specifically went to a vegetarian restaurant with my sister. It’s easier for me, as a single person, not to have that temptation. What will I do if I get asked out on a date? Hmmm…

You should be researching vegan-friendly restaurants, so you can be prepared for that call asking you out. :)
