Put down that hamburger, lady! A recent study in the UK shows a link between high levels of red meat consumption and breast cancer in young women.

The title (”Veggie isn’t Easy“) of this article caught my eye. It talks about some of the weird and wacky ingredients you might need to use if you *gasp* want to serve a vegetarian Thanksgiving meal. Yes, IF you’ve never, ever cooked a meat-free meal before, AND you insist that your vegan Thanksgiving meal look and taste EXACTLY like a traditional Thanksgiving meal, THEN maybe you will have a little difficulty figuring out how to put everything together. But seriously, I’ve survived at least 15 Thanksgivings as a vegetarian (many of them in the deep south of the US) without once resorting to a fake turkey or ‘Better than Bouillon. I think this article’s title sends the wrong message, but its body does contain some useful information about vegan substitutions that can be made when adapting traditional recipes.

College newspapers around the US and Canada have been proudly announcing their schools’ nominations for PETA’s “top Veg-Friendly Colleges” list. Voting is still open online, but I’m not really sure who would be qualified to participate - how many people have eaten at all of the nominee’s cafeterias?
