Vegetarian Perks: Principles or Persecution?
It’s great to be a vegetarian these days…especially in Mumbai, India. (Mumbai is the city formerly known as Bombay.)Vehetarians are enjoying preferential treatment such as first dibs on coveted aprtments. Seems meat-eaters are sinking to the lowly ranks of smokers and party animals as far as leasing offices are concerned.
While Indians are accustomed to housing demarcated by religion, separation by diet has meat-eaters worried. Mumbai likes to think of itself as a city open to the world, and some worry that the vegetarian tide goes against that trend.
Vikramaditya Ugra, a young banker in search of an apartment, said vegetarian colonies were fine in neighboring Gujarat, a state dominated by vegetarians.
“That’s in tune with local sensitivity,” he said. “But to impose this restriction is not right in a cosmopolitan city like Bombay.”
What do you think: is this going too far against personal liberties, or does it herald a possible new respect for this lifestyle?

I stumbled upon this blog while I was doing some online research related to vegetarianism. I certainly do not think that it goes against personal liberties to have 100 percent vegetarian centers. Today we have smoke-free zones, 55+ only apartment complexes, and various other restricted living areas.
