by Jul on January 31st, 2008

veg-carnival-logo-copy.jpgWelcome to the January 2008 edition of the vegetarian blog carnival. It’s been a while since the last edition, so today’s carnival is even more jam-packed with vegetarian goodness than usual.

We’ll start out with a couple of thought-provoking posts on veg*nism. Samuel Bryson presents Vegetarianism From a Different Perspective: posted at Total Wellbeing. Steve Pavlina presents Why Vegan? posted at Steve Pavlina’s Personal Development Blog.

Raw food gets a little attention in this carnival with a couple posts on the topic. Tiffany Washko presents Eat Raw More Often posted at Raw Food Blog. Topical considering the recent debate on food costs that went on in the comments here the other day, we have a couple posts about paying less for healthy food. Katie Knorovsky finds a way.” GP presents Kids can do lunch on the farm. posted at Innside Montana-Your Home at the Range, saying, “Kids in Montana can go home for lunch The Montana Farm to School Program, which works with local farmers, ranchers and school staff to provide local food to students that will improve student nutrition.” Carol Bentley presents An enjoyable experience. . . with Belgian chocolate posted at Carol Bentley.

Weight loss is a popular topic whenever food and diet are discussed, and this carnival is no exception. SusanV presents Watching Your Weight? Eat Soup! posted at Fatfree Vegan Kitchen (one of my all-time favorite recipe blogs, by the way). Randy Powell presents T’was The Season… Avoiding Refined Starches and Sugars posted at Eating-Veggies.com: Alkaline Diet blog.

And now on to the recipes - we have a lot of tasty-sounding dishes in this carnival!

Jon presents Seitan, or Vegan Wheat Meat posted at Prodromic DIY, saying, “Recipes and methods for making seitan “wheat meat” that isn’t the rubbery stuff you get at supermarkets. Vegan haute cuisine!”

Libby presents the vegetarian Tex-Mex breakfast Migas - a Texan’s birthright. posted at A Libby in Minnesota?. Lovelyn presents Baked Falafel and Tahini Sauce posted at The Art of Balanced Living.

Stretch Mark Mama presents Crock Pot Lentil Soup posted at Stretch Mark Mama. Betsy Teutsch presents Happy Vegetarian Family WonTon Soup posted at Money Changes Things, saying, “Here’s a step-by-step, with photos, recipe for making fabulous vegetarian wonton soup.”

And to top off your meal this winter, Christine presents Vin Chaud - Hot Wine posted at Me, My Kid and Life: An American Single Mom Living in France, saying, “Bring a little bit of France home for the holidays with this traditional French favorite.”
