V.C. Challenge day 5: Brussels Sprouts and Pomelo
I admit it, I was one of those kids who hated brussels sprouts. Traumatized by being forced to eat them as a child, I have mainly avoided them for most of my adult life. But every time I’ve gone to the store this week, there they’ve been, staring at me from the shelf and daring me to buy them. So today I finally gave in.
I prepared them using this recipe for roasted brussels sprouts (I’m very into roasting vegetables lately). Now here’s the big surprise - they were really tasty! I just might even make them again sometime.
The fruit of the day was a pomelo, a citrus fruit similar to a grapefruit but larger and a little less organized inside. It was pretty good - a little sweeter and tougher than a grapefruit, but still enjoyable. Given that pomelos are significantly more expensive than grapefruits here, though, I can’t really see myself buying them again.

I just learned from my mother-in-law how to cook burssel sprouts. She cuts them in half or quarters and sautees them Chinese-style with garlic, salt, and some stock. Yum!

I tried your mother-in-law’s method tonight - they were good! Garlic makes everything tasty.
