Some foods just don’t go together

by Jul on May 25th, 2008

IMG 7795I love garlic-stuffed green olives. I picked up a couple jars of them the other day… or so I thought. They were sitting together on the shelf, but I didn’t look closely enough at the second package, and when I got home I found out that one of them was green olives stuffed with almonds (if you look closely at the picture, you’ll see “Mandeln” on the left and “Knoblauch” on the right - German for “almonds” and “garlic”).

I like olives, and I like almonds, but I didn’t have a good feeling about this combination. And, yeah, they tasted all wrong. I ended up de-almonding most of the olives. :)

Are there any food combinations you hate?

I guess someone has to like them. Otherwise they wouldn’t sell them! :)

I’ve had these before and also think they’re wonderful.

In contrast I’ve just been reading about chocolate baked beans - now they really are two foods that don’t go together.

I’ve never had either kind of olives but like the sound of both. Chocolate baked beans….Yuck!
