Veggie Chic

Smart people go veggie!

by Jul on December 15th, 2006

brainNot that this comes as any surprise, but a recent study has proven that intelligent children are more likely to become vegetarians later in life.

Men who were vegetarian had an IQ score of 106, compared with 101 for non-vegetarians; while female vegetarians averaged 104, compared with 99 for non-vegetarians.

The article goes on to explain how the vegetarian connection “may help to explain why higher IQ in childhood or adolescence is linked with a reduced risk of coronary heart disease in adult life.”

So, are you smart enough to go vegetarian?

I heard about this study too. I hope it’s right because it looks like I’m on the right track. I started off giving up on beef and pork (which I never really liked as a kid), now I’m down to only eating some fish and mostly veggies.

I wonder if I am going to be smart enough to convince family and friends to give up meat as well…

I know it’s true, being vegan has given me the brain power that i never had before.
I wish i had been this way in school there would be no level to to which i could have reached.
No i have the opportunity to change the lives of two little ones that we hope to adopt here in Indiana. We were shot down in our last adoption attempt but we are up for the struggle and ready to go at it again.
Some people still think vegetarians/vegans should not adopt but we hope to change their minds.
Vegetarians and vegans make great parents and we aim to prove that we are in that batch.
We ended our last adoption attempt with it being cancelled because of our vegetarian lifestyle but this time we are starting over with another attempt as vegans, much more informed and stronger willed.
