Power, in sandwich form
One thing I’m appreciating about Munich (my new home city, as of last week) is that pretty much every place we go has at least one veggie option, and usually more.
The other day we were on the go for lunch, and stopped by a bakery counter to pick up something to eat. This “Power Sandwich” caught my eye. After confirming that it was, indeed, vegetarian, I ordered one up. It contained cream cheese, radishes, arugula, and what I think were wheat berries. The bread roll was whole-grain and topped with seeds.
I can’t say I noticed any particular surge in energy after consuming my Power Sandwich, but at least it was a welcome alternative to the standard cheese sandwiches that are usually the only vegetarian sandwich option around here.
Where’s your favorite place to get vegetarian sandwiches?

My favorite is Hayfield’s Deli in Northampton, MA. They have an insane selection of vegetarian ingredients for made to order sandwiches and at least 5 vegetarian sandwich listings. My favorite is either called the Gardener or the Farmer. I’ve been away from the area in a while so I can’t remember. So good.

That looks really good! My favorite place to go for vegetarian sandwiches is my own kitchen! We have a couple places that offer vegetarian options but the price just kills me. I’m really cheap and I hate spending $7 for a sandwich that I could make at home for $1.50. Of course, I never turn one down if my husband offers to drop one off at the office!

Like Dana, I like to prepare sandwiches myself. I don’t have any recipe, because I make them on the spur of the moment and a few days later I totally forget how I made them… But I remember eating a smoked tofu sandwich with sweet chili sauce from Boots that was delicious. Normally they offer quite a few vegetarian sandwiches (read a bit too much cheese or eggs), but to find a vegan sandwich there was good news.
