One week without shopping (sort of)
It’s been a week since I started my no-grocery-stores experiment. I know a week doesn’t sound like long (especially since I went to the farmers’ market in the middle of it to stock up on veggies), but for someone who usually runs into the store 3-4 times a week, it’s already a bit of a challenge.
So far I’ve run out of flour and cacao powder (I made a batch of vegan cupcakes to bring to a friend’s house), dried cannellini beans, canned garbanzo beans, white balsamic vinegar, yuba, and pine nuts.
The first week obviously wasn’t too hard (unless you count having to make pesto with walnuts instead of pine nuts a hardship), nor did it make much of a dent in the contents of the pantry. On to week two…
