The variety of veggies grown by the local farmers continues to amuse me. I couldn’t resist picking up a couple of these tennis-ball-sized zucchini at the market the other day.
Their breadth makes me think they would be excellent sliced up and stacked moussaka-style with other veggies (or grilled and used to top a veggie burger). […]

I mentioned zucchini flowers last week, but for got to take a picture of them then, which gave me a perfect excuse to go back this week and buy some more. Of course if you are lucky enough to grow your own zucchini (or courgettes, for the British folks out there), you have a free […]

I found these beans at the farmers market last week. They look like green beans, smell like green beans, and taste like green beans, but they’re purple. So I guess that makes them… purple beans?
Inside they were green, and the outside color faded from brilliant purple to kind of a greenish-purple while they were steaming. […]

Even the British government is helping spread the message that vegetarianism is good for the environment.
What do you think, does vegetarian = sexy?

The same day I also picked up some zucchini flowers, a favorite from my childhood […]

I’ve been hearing a lot recently about a book called Skinny Bitch. That Posh Spice bought it (because she needs staying skinny advice?). That it is written by models. That it promotes a healthy vegan diet.
But the thing that I’ve read about the book that most made me want to actually read the book is […]

Zurich’s most famous vegetarian restaurant, Hiltl, has some of the best advertising campaigns I’ve ever seen. Check out one of their commercials here.
In case you missed it, there was a soy yogurt recall issued a couple weeks ago in the US.
The Lazy Vegan Blog offers up some strategies for easing into part-time vegetarianism, for those […]

I also picked up this really, really ripe cantaloupe at the farmers’ market the other day. It was so fragrant that it stunk up my whole kitchen (in a good way). We ate half of it right away, and then I chopped up the other half and stuck it in the freezer. I’ll put it […]
